We complied a list of 20 Odds, and decided that visually they would be more interesting if they were paired against each other, acting as a social commentary. For example, The odds of contracting fatal heart disease is 1 in 3. Yet more people are scared by the thought of fatally being stabbed, despite the odds being much smaller (1 in 16, 421).
Experimenting with type brought us to using scale as a means of visualizing our list. As Odds are within numbers, which many people cannot visually relate to, we decided to use Glyphs to express our figures visually.
